As part of being accepted into the CBS Diversity Writers program, I was invited to the NAACP Image Awards Luncheon on Saturday in Beverly Hills.
Entering the hotel, I glanced over and saw Common walking in next to me. I was directed upstairs to the media room. And in the packed room of cameras and photographers being interviewed was Kareem Abdul Jabbar, towering over everyone.

And on and on... Downstairs during lunch, the Host made opening remarks and spoke of this "young man, who's an extraordinary writer, with limitless potential... And you should all get to know..."
I'm thinking, lemme make a note to talk to this guy. Then my name gets called to stand up!!! I was completely awe struck to see Common, Kareem, Niecy Nash and the whole room clapping... These same people upstairs doing press junkets, now sitting at tables nearby, clapping and mouthing congratulations to me!!!
Before I could pick up my fork again, a lady showed up to my table. She shoved her business card in my hand and said... "I'm Kareem's agent... Lets talk..." walked away. Later I was taken around to all the tables, and was told, talk to anyone I want. It turns out alot of the actors, and writers brought their agents.
I was able to pitch myself AND Inwood Street, and have a couple meetings set up. One potentially at CAA. And for those who don't know, when you say the words Entertainment, Successful, Dealmakers, Agency, you couldn't finish the sentence without saying their name.
So right now, I have nothing but good problems (FOR ONCE!!!). And none of this would be possible without the grace of God, my parents, and continual support from people like you.
