Hello again!
The last two weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster, with steady improvement, and a couple more trips to the ER. The first ER trip Nate was experiencing increasing pain in his left cheek that didn't go away with any kind of pain reliever. We headed to Memorial Hermann downtown Houston where they have all of his records from surgery, c-scan, and the Doctor's notes.
Nate was told post surgery to sneeze and cough out of his mouth, and not blow his nose. What the ER Doc surmised is that during his sleep or unconsciously Nate sneezed or blew his nose and this created air to get trapped in the fractures in his cheek. After the air to dissipated (a couple days later) the pain went away.
The next ER trip was due to a high fever that went slightly down with tylenol, but shot back up again. He was given antibiotics last Tuesday and has been doing well since then.
He wants so badly to get back to his "normal" life, and is learning how to listen to the limits of his body during this healing, recovery phase, and rest.
I often hear people tell Nate that he looks great, which he does! The surgeons did an excellent job, and had you not known Nate before, you would not be able to tell that he had such major surgery.
Thank you again for your thoughts, prayers, and support. Nate is a very fortunate, blessed young man.
With Love,
Jennifer and Nate
