Hello everyone! Sorry for being off the grid these past few weeks. A LOT has happened since this project began.
First off: THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THIS PROJECT!!! I can't tell you how appreciative I am of your kindness and support!!!
So to fill you in on the progress of this fundraiser on Indiegogo and for the entire SEGMENTED project as a whole:
Together we raised over $2,000! Which is awesome! Unfortunately, to make this project happen (especially in the manner of which it was intended to be created) $2,000 only scratches the surface.
SO! As of right now, the $2,000 contributed via Indiegogo sits in an account waiting to be joined by more dollars (yet-to-be-raised) so this project can look and feel like the proper film it was intended to be.
I, personally, have relocated back to Virginia Beach to cut back on overhead and to reassess the approach to this project. My goal is to reduce the budget so the money raised thus far (plus future contributions) can stretch further and give us more bang for our buck. (Example: by relocating the shoot outside of LA, the budget has already been cut by $5,000 just on location fees alone.) But even with this big chunk taken out, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to get this budgeted and shot feasibly.
Like all things worthwhile, this short film will take some careful planning (a.k.a. time and energy) to get accomplished.
A general timeline I have set forth for myself and SEGMENTED:
-By mid-April I hope to have a rewritten script catered to locations available here in Virginia Beach, and with fewer cast members (further reducing the budget.)
-By May I hope to have the revised script budgeted properly. With the new script and new budget, I will know how much more fundraising will be necessary to produce SEGMENTED: THE SHORT.
-With the new fundraising goal, I plan to get all creative on some live events and parties to generate more contributions to add to the existing funds raised and then rock out the production of OUR MOVIE!!!
