CNN Early Start Anchor Zoraida Sambolin faces double mastectomy
Zoraida Sambolin asks: What are the chances you walk into work and the lead story is Angelina Jolie has had a double mastectomy when you are facing one yourself?
Well, I am facing one too. As Angelina, Dr. Oz, and Zoraida have all recently discussed, feeling “less of a woman” is something that is in the back of the minds of many of us who face mastectomy. But I agree with Angelina, that it is better to be there for your family than to have breasts. As a lifelong A-cup maybe it is easier for me to say this. Yet, I believe that Zoraida and I -- indeed all who have had or are facing mastectomy -- will be no less a woman because of it. We are in a fight for our lives. Real women love life and embrace it. And our femininity comes from within. No surgery can take that away.
