Now that I have posted all of the motivational updates and delivered the necessary transparency of my intentions in building the channel, I will devote more update posts to what the channel experience will be like, how we will find great content, what's in it for the filmmakers and how the channel plans to give back to the filmmaking communities in Texas. I encourage anyone to leave comments throughout these updates to let me know what you think and what might work better. After all, you may be helping to design the experience for millions of subscribers across the globe. No pressure though :)
So let's spend some time discussing the basics of what the channel experience will be like by discussing the big three elements of the channel.
The first and most important element is great content. Once we get the financing we need to pull this off, the search will begin across Texas for the most entertaining movies of all genres that have been produced for the past twenty years; but have yet to find an audience or be seen by one. The channel will use a curator style of discovery and recommendation for the content on the channel in order to ensure that we are hosting the entertainment choices that you want to see and would recommend to your friends.
The second element is a clean interface regardless of technology used to view the channel that is easy to navigate and ultimately engineered to "disappear" and be forgotten while you enjoy your movie.
The third element is the social component of the channel DNA that allows you to watch alone or invite friends and enjoy a gaming style chatting experience throughout your time spent together on the channel. This will be great for creating a "movie night" meet up time to watch a movie with friends who are spread across the world, but can still enjoy each other's company while watching a movie. After using this feature a couple of times, you'll wish the conference calls at work could be so entertaining.
